Adam’s 12 Most Anticipated Movies of 2012

Here’s my list of most anticipated films of 2012 in no particular order. I’m sure there’s probably some I missed so make sure to check out Kevin’s list as well.

1. The Dark Knight Rises

Dir: Christopher Nolan
Release Date: July 20th
Cast: Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Love Nolan, love Batman, I’m sure this is on everyone’s list this year.

 

 

 

 

2. Prometheus

Dir: Ridley Scott
Release Date: June 8th
Cast: Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba

Ridley Scott’s return to horror/sci-fi in the form of a sort of Alien prequel.  Very excited for this one.

 

 

 

 

 


3. World War Z

Dir: Marc Foster
Release Date: December 21, 2012
Cast: Brad Pitt. Eric West, Matthew Fox

A UN representative, writing a report on the great zombie war, interviews survivors in the wake of World War Z.

This movie has been in production forever and I’m very excited for it to finally be ready for release this year.

 

 

 

 

4. Cloud Atlas

Dir: Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski
Cast: Tom Hanks, Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving, Halle Berry

Six stories set in a different time and place become intricately related to each other.

This supposedly unfilmable story is set to release this year. I’m very interested to see how this one turns out.

 

 

 

5. Moonrise Kingdom

Dir: Wes Anderson
Cast: Ed Norton, Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Jason Schwartzman

Wes Anderson is one of my all-time favorite directors and his new film has me drooling with anticipation.

 

 

 

 

6. Django Unchained

Dir: Quentin Tarantino
Release Date: December 25th
Cast: Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio, Kerry Washington

Tarantino is another one of my all-time favorites and I can’t wait to see his take on the western.

 

 

 

 

 

7. The Cabin in the Woods

Dir: Drew Goddard
Release Date: April 13, 2012
Cast: Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Chris Hemsworth

Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen.

 

 

 

 

 

 

8. Haywire

Dir: Steven Soderbergh
Release Date: January 20, 2012
Cast: Gina Carano, Ewen McGregor, Michael Fassbender

A black ops super soldier seeks payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission.

 

 

 

 

 

9. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Dir: Timur Bekmambetov
Release Date: June 22, 2012
Cast: Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell, Dominic Cooper

President Lincoln’s mother is killed by a supernatural creature, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers.

 

 

 

 

 

10. The Avengers

Dir: Joss Whedon
Release Date: May 4, 2012
Cast: Robery Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson

Nick Fury and the international agency S.H.I.E.L.D. bring together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki & his various membered army.

I’ve loved all the recent Marvel movies and I’m very hopeful that this will not disappoint.

 

 

 

11. Looper

Dir: Rian Johnson
Release Date: September 28, 2012
Cast: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt

A killer who works for the mob of the future recognizes one of his targets as his future self.

 

 

 

 

 

12. The Master

Dir: Paul Thomas Anderson
Cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, Joaquin Phoenix

The relationship between “The Master” (Hoffman) whose faith-based organization (not Scientology) begins to catch on in America, and a young drifter (Phoenix) who becomes his right-hand man.
