The producers of Amy Berg‘s documentary An Open Secret have announced a new cut of the film has been created to bring its rating down to PG-13 in order to reach a wider audience.

The film takes a look at the apparent rampant sexual abuse in Hollywood, and while the original cut was appealed, the MPAA still slapped it with an R rating for its content.

Producer Gabe Hoffman stated “It was my intent all along to have this film viewed by as many people as possible and when we realized the R-rating would limit our audience, we took action.” That action, according to THR, involved removing two words in order to appease the MPAA.

An Open Secret had a theatrical run in Los Angeles, New York, Denver, and Seattle, but now, the PG-13 version could get a wider release through Gathr Films, which uses a theatrical-on-demand technique.
