Fox Searchlight has released a new trailer for upcoming based-on-a-true-story romance drama A United Kingdom. Set in the 1940s, the film stars David Oyelowo as an African royal who marries an Englishwoman (Rosamund Pike), which, of course, agitates certain people.
Directed by Amma Asante, A United Kingdom debuted at TIFF earlier this year and will be released in the U.S. on February 17th, 2017.
A UNITED KINGDOM is the true story of the forbidden love of King Seretse Khama of Botswana (David Oyelowo) and Ruth Williams (Rosamund Pike), a white woman from London, which caused an international uproar when they decided to marry in the late 1940’s just as apartheid was being introduced into South Africa. It was a decision that altered the course of African history.
