Returning Citizens

Directed by Saffron Cassaday (Cyber-Seniors) and featuring interviews with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton and leaders of the Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizens Affairs, the film follows a group of Southeast D.C. residents as they strive to adjust to freedom after long-term incarceration and work to create new lives for themselves and their families. From freshly returning individuals struggling to rebuild their lives, to community leaders working to end the on-going cycle of crime and violence, the compelling personal stories unveiled in “Returning Citizens” illustrate the need for comprehensive prison reform.
