After days of teases, including a new title and today’s poster unveiling, Universal has released the first trailer for The Fate of the Furious. There are plenty of ridiculous vehicles doing ridiculous things, and while a lot of the stunt work looks great, the trailer is a bit heavy on generic machine-gun fire.
The big plot hook this time around appears to be Dom (Vin Diesel) turning on his “family” in the service of a mysterious villain played by Charlize Theron. I’m sure he’s got his reasons.
Directed by F. Gary Gray, The Fate of the Furious also stars Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and several others. It will be released in theaters on April 14th, 2017.
