Five years ago today my borderline unhealthy obsession with cinema resulted in the launch of a little indie blog that I called Film Pulse, where my buddy, Kevin Rakestraw, and I could talk about movies.
We later launched two podcasts, The Film Pulse Podcast and Ryan Watches a Movie and eventually our little blog turned into a full-blown site with a team of great contributors. I attribute all of this to the amazing people who have demonstrated an unwavering dedication over the years, lending their incredible talents to our cause. All those who have written for us over the years have helped to build Film Pulse into what it is today — truly special, and I can’t thank you enough.
I want to thank everyone who has helped make this the site what it is and for the tireless work that all of the writers have done for us over the the years. I wish I could buy everyone Teslas or giant 4K televisions or some other extravagant gift, but running an indie film site isn’t as lucrative as you might think, and by that I mean we barely make enough to keep the lights on.
I want to also thank all the filmmakers, distributors and publicists who have supported what we do here at Film Pulse. When starting all this craziness, I never thought I would get to meet so many of the hardworking filmmakers who I admire or to be given the opportunities that we have, so thank you for all you do and please keep making amazing movies that we can cover on the website and podcast.
Above all I want to thank you, the readers and listeners, for being such a supportive and knowledgeable audience for the last five years. We do this all for you and hope that you all stick around, as we intend to do, for a long time to come. The site has grown quite a bit since its debut in January of 2012, as has the podcast, but we still haven’t lost sight of why we started this whole thing to begin with – to hopefully spark some discussion with like-minded film lovers.
