In 1928 a Pow-wow doctor  by the name of John Blymire believed he was hexed by another Pow-wow doctor named Nelson Rehmeyer. Blymire and two of his associates killed Rehmeyer, and the subsequent trial drew national attention as people were shocked to learn witchcraft was still a thing in the 20th century. Having grown up in the area where this took place myself, as a child we would always hear stories about Rehmeyer’s Hollow and how it was haunted by the malevolent spirit of Nelson Rehmeyer.

It’s a creepy story to be sure, and now there’s a documentary being released about it directed by Shane Free titled Hex Hollow, which now has a trailer. There’s no release date as of yet, but be sure to keep a look out for this one.

In the town of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, Pow-wow doctor John Blymire believed he had a curse placed upon him by fellow Pow-wow doctor and farmer Nelson Rehmeyer.

To break the “Hex”, Blymire, along with John Curry and Wilbert Hess needed to get Rehmeyer’s book of spells and a lock of his hair and bury it 6 feet in the ground. When they confronted Rehmeyer, a struggle took place and the three men brutally murdered Rehmeyer and set his body on fire.

All three men were arrested and charged with murder.

The court cases that followed gained national attention as the country was shocked to learn the existence of 20th century witchcraft.
