Showtime has released a trailer for Risk, a documentary from Academy Award winner Laura Poitras (Citizenfour). Filmed over six years, the doc gives an inside look at WikiLeaks though unprecedented access to founder Julian Assange.
The trailer teases behind-the-scenes maneuvering during the leaking scandal of the 2016 U.S presidential election as well as obstacles Poitras faced while making the film.
Risk will debut on Showtime sometime this summer, and the network has partnered with Neon for a theatrical release. Dates have yet to be confirmed.

It is a first-person geopolitical thriller told from the perspective of a filmmaker immersed in the worlds of state surveillance and the cypherpunk movement. RISK confirms Poitras’ directorial ability to record history as it unfolds on camera, and craft narratives at the highest level. Showtime Networks has partnered with NEON to release RISK theatrically nationwide, with a television premiere on SHOWTIME this summer.
