Let the Cavalcade of Rumors Begin- Matthew Vaughn to Direct 'Star Wars: Episode VII' 1

Just a week or so after the big announcement that Disney is purchasing Lucasfilm for $4 billion, and Episode VII would be hitting theaters in 2015, the internet exploded with rumors regarding plot, characters, and directors.  Most everything thus far is speculation, but the good folks over at Collider seem to think this nugget may be the most truthful. Now, I’m fully aware that this is how bad news starts, and hurts the credibility of blogs everywhere.  One blog posts it, then another picks it up and before you know it, everyone regards it as fact with a heap of added falsities to spice it up.  That being said, this is stated as a rumor even on the source site so take it with a grain of salt at least until Disney releases an official announcement. While we don’t normally post rumors on the site, this is Star Wars after all, so it deserves some attention.

Disclaimer out of the way, it seems that director Matthew Vaughn is the front-runner for the next Star Wars film. Vaughn recently dropped out of directing the next X-Men film, and it’s rumored that it’s because of Disney courting him for this.

Vaughn previously directed X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass, Stardust, and Layer Cake, so it would seem he’s as competent as anyone to take on the Star Wars saga.  In my opinion, this one can’t be any worse than the prequels, so I say have at it. Let us know what you think below.
