Steven Spielberg is set to direct The Post, a film about the publishing of the Pentagon Papers in The Washington Post in 1971. Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep will star. There was no start date announced. Spielberg is currently finishing Ready Player One and has several projects in various stages of development, including 2019’s Indiana Jones 5.
Per Variety:
The Pentagon Papers made headlines prior to article’s publication when the Post’s editor Ben Bradlee and publisher Kay Graham challenged the federal government over their right to publish them. Hanks would play Bradlee and Streep would play Graham.
