Studio Ponoc has released a trailer for Mary and the Witch’s Flower, the Japanese studio’s first feature. It is produced by Yoshiaki Nishimura and directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, both former staffers at Studio Ghibli, and the film definitely recalls Ghibli’s style. Of course, it looks gorgeous.
Based on Mary Stewart’s book The Little Broomstick, Mary and the Witch’s Flower tells the story of a little girl who is granted magical powers for one night.
The film will be in theaters in Japan in July; there’s currently no U.S. release date.
