’80s Holiday Cult Classic DIAL CODE SANTA CLAUS Gets a New Trailer

A new trailer has been released for Dial Code Santa Claus, an ’80s French holiday thriller that was never before released in the U.S. till this year. The film, previously only available on bootleg VHS, pre-dates Home Alone, but looks to carry a similar vibe, albeit much darker, with a boy using homemade weapons to take down a murderous Santa Claus. It looks incredible and we’ll be covering it more in depth on the site later this week.

American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) and Alamo Drafthouse are releasing the film in theaters at Alamo Drafthouse locations across the country beginning today. For a full list of theaters and showtimes, head over to drafthouse.com.

Thomas is a typical 1980s kid: he loves computers, role-playing games, and his dog. While mom is away at the office on Christmas Eve, Thomas and his grandfather are left home alone — perfect timing for a disgruntled, perverted, bloodthirsty Santa Claus to raid the home down the chimney. But Hell hath no fury like a mulleted ten-year-old with an arsenal of toys! Made a year before HOME ALONE, the French-made DIAL CODE SANTA CLAUS has almost the same plot — only filled with more style, bloodshed, and Rambo references.
