In “Landing Up,” Chrissie (Stacey Maltin) does everything she can to hide that she’s living on the streets. In their research for the film, Maltin and Tenenbaum interviewed people at homeless shelters in New York. Their biggest surprise was that so many people that were homeless didn’t actually appear to be. “They looked like you or me.” The filmmakers wanted to show another perspective on homelessness—not everyone is who or what you think.
