Short Film: YOU ARE AWAKE

For two years the people who lived in the village of Kalachi, Kazakhstan have been mysteriously fainting with their eyes open only to awaken two to five days later with no recollection of what happened. This crazy true event is the basis of director Pedro Martin-Calero‘s well-shot short film You Are Awake. The thing that impresses me the most about this film is how complimentary it’s structured when looking at the source material. It’s bite-sized, coming in at under 5 minutes, but it’s more than enough to make me want to go out and research this town- which I did.

You Are Awake is presented as part of this season’s Fandependent Film Festival. If you like this short and want to support it, consider throwing in a vote for it on the Fandependent web site. The winner of the winter festival gets a $1000 cash prize and all of the entries are available to stream for free.

Full Disclosure: Film Pulse is a promotional partner of Fandependent, however we gather no monetary gain and all opinions are our own.
