After all the drama with Sacha Baron Cohen being banned from the Oscars this week, it looks like The Academy has caved, and is not only allowing him to attend, but gave the go ahead to let him arrive in character.
Cohen tweeted the above pic of him holding his Oscar tickets (and a shiny golden gun), and Oscar producer Brian Grazer has been quoted as saying, “We’re thrilled to have him and he’ll be on the red carpet as The Dictator.”
It seems like The Academy realized that this controversy will certainly increase the number of viewers of the show Sunday. Whatever the reason, I’m glad they’re letting it happen, especially since they’re going to be make us have to deal with Cirque de Soleil during the show.
