Cannes 2013: ‘A Touch of Sin’ Trailer

Here’s the newly released trailer for Jia Zhangke‘s A Touch of Sin, which is in competition for the Palme d’Or this week at the Cannes film festival.  The film takes a look at the issues of modern-day China by telling four stories that take place in four different provinces, tackling issues like violence and the economic climate.

Zhangke previously directed the Golden Lion winning Still Life so this will certainly be a strong contender for the competition this year.  Hit the jump for the trailer and synopsis, A Touch of Sin premieres this week at the Cannes Film Festival.

An angry miner revolts against the corruption of his village leaders.

A migrant worker at home for the New Year discovers the infinite possibilities a firearm can offer.

A pretty receptionist at a sauna is pushed to the limit when a rich client assaults her.

A young factory worker goes from job to job trying to improve his lot in life.

Four people, four different provinces. A reflection on contemporary China: that of an economic giant slowly being eroded by violence.
