Kickstart Sunday – ‘I Am Divine’

Every week on Film Pulse, we highlight a Kickstarter project that we think you’ll really like, and deserves some support.  Not only do we implore you to contribute to these projects, but we will contribute as well.  Kick your Sunday off right by helping support independent film. If you help fund any of the projects we list, send us an e-mail at feedback@filmpulse.net, and we’ll make sure to thank you on the podcast.

This week we’re promoting I Am Divinea new documentary by film maker Jeffrey Schwarz. This doc covers the interesting life of Divine, the cross-dressing actor most notable for his roles in John Waters films like Hair Spray and Pink Flamingos. Divine was such an odd person, a movie about him was bound to happen, and this is going to be a very interesting watch.  The film is almost at completion, but they need some help with editing, archive footage, and music, so let’s donate and honor Divine with a high quality picture. They are asking for $40,000 and are currently at $3907 with 26 days to go. Click here for the Kickstarter page and Read on for more information.

I AM DIVINE is a definitive biographical portrait of Harris Glenn Milstead, aka Divine, and honors him in just the way he always craved — as a serious artist and immortal star. Divine’s is the ultimate “It Gets Better” story, as he transformed himself from a bullied schoolyard fat kid to a larger-than-life cult hero who continues to inspire outsiders, misfits, punks, sluts and queers over 20 years after his death!

In order to make this film BY and FOR Divine’s fans a reality, we need your help. We aim to raise at least $40,000 in 28 days — just one MENSTRUAL CYCLE — to pay for editing, archival footage & photo licensing, graphics, music and LIQUID EYELINER in time to unleash this movie on an unsuspecting world next year. Please help us reach our goal by DIVINE’s BIRTHDAY, October 19!

Besides the joy that giving to I AM DIVINE will bring to your black little hearts, we’re offering fabulous incentives at each donation level that we hope will make you feel more Divine-ly inspired…and not one of them is a turd! So please, dig deep into those couch cushions for CASH, and help us thrust Divine back into the spotlight!
THANK YOU, and we love every last one of you!
From the gutter,
The I AM DIVINE Team

P.S. You can view photos of most of our incentives in an album on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/DivineMovie.
