‘Leviathan’ Trailer

‘Leviathan’ is a documentary and when I say documentary…I mean DOCUMENTARY, in the oldest sense of the term. Anthropologists/Film-makers Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Vérena Paravel (Sweetgrass) attach numerous GoPro cameras throughout the fishing vessel (inside and out) and on the fishermen themselves, merely documenting the actions of the crew, the ship, the ocean and the wildlife in their existence. ‘Leviathan’ happens to be nominated in the Truer Than Fiction Award at this year’s Independent Spirit Awards, while gaining a lot buzz in numerous publications during it’s slew of festival runs. Although ‘Leviathan’ might not be everyone’s cup of tea, you must admit the footage looks otherworldly spellbinding; who knows, with the all success of all those reality TV fishing shows, ‘Leviathan’ might be surprisingly successful itself.
