Cannes 2013: Asghar Farhadi’s ‘The Past’ Trailer

Here’s the English subtitled trailer for Asghar Farhadi‘s new film The Past, which is set to premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Farhadi previously directed the Academy Award winning A Separation, and by the looks of the trailer, he could have another award winner on his hands.

The film stars Bérénice Bejo, Tahar Rahim, and Ali Mosaffa, and focuses on a couple going through a divorce in order for the husband to return to his home country of Iran.

The Past looks every bit as powerful as A Separation, and promises to deal with some pretty heavy subject matter- don’t expect this to be the feel good movie of the year. There’s no current US release, however a deal will most likely be made at the fest.
