Kickstart Sunday: CULLING THE HERD

This week’s Kickstart Sunday pick comes to us from producer/director Don Lewis and his upcoming documentary Culling the Herd (working title).  The film takes a look at modern organic cattle farming, and the challenges farmers are facing.  Lewis previously directed the doc Worst in Show and writes for Film Threat, so of course we have to support a fellow film writer and you should too.

This Indiegogo project currently has 36 days left with a goal of $42,000.  Be sure to click here and show your support today and hit the jump for more info.

On February 8, 2014 the United States Department of Agriculture issued a recall on all meat processed by the Rancho Feeding Corporation in Petaluma, CA. Although over 85% of the meat had already been consumed without one single reported illness, the USDA still demanded the return and subsequent destruction of all Rancho processed meat and as of March 11, 2014 have still not publicly stated the cause or complaint that lead to the recall. This has caused major confusion to the public and unconscionable demands on the small local farming community.
