Kickstart Sunday: STRIVER’S ROW

This week’s Kickstart Sunday pick comes to us from director Robert Rippberger and writer Sha-Risse Smith and their film Striver’s Row. This feature takes place in the Striver’s Row area of Harlem and revolves around a young woman struggling to keep her family intact while pursuing her dream.

This Kickstarter campaign currently has 11 days remaining as of this writing with a goal of $25,000, so be sure to click here to check it out and consider sending a donation their way.

Kalani is a black teenager living in Harlem with her older brother Jacob, and her younger sister, Bebe, while her mother struggles to make ends meet for the family. As Kalani’s siblings get caught in a myriad of hardships, Kalani teeters on the brink of ruin as she struggles to keep both her family and her dream intact.

Striver’s Row reminds us that hard work, optimism, and perseverance in the face of overwhelming adversity is the essence of what it is to be an American.
