Adam McKay to Direct Comic Book Movie IRREDEEMABLE

Back in 2009 I picked up a comic from Mark Waid called Irredeemable not knowing exactly what it was all about, but after two issues I found myself completely hooked. It revolves around a Superman-like hero who cracks under the pressure of constantly saving the world and everyone in it and decides to instead destroy everything. The series wrapped up back in 2012, but now director Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) will be adapting it to the big screen. Although McKay is no stranger to super hero movies, having worked as a writer on Ant-Man and Ant-Man 2, this will be the first one he’s directing.

I think the pitch black comedy featured in the comic will suit McKay’s style and I hope that he does it justice. 20th Century Fox will be producing the film, although it’s still in the very early stages so no release date or casting has yet been announced. Readers of the comic, what do you think about this announcement?
