Alicia Vikander Will Be The Next Lara Croft In The TOMB RAIDER Reboot

THR broke the news that casting for the lead role in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has been decided, with Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl, Ex Machina) playing the next iteration of Lara Croft. MGM, Warner Bros., and GK Films will be producing the film, with Roar Uthaug (The Wave) set to direct.

There were two previous films released based on the best-selling video game series, Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, both of which starred Angelina Jolie as Croft.

The interesting thing about this reboot, is that it sounds like it’s going to mirror that of the games, which went through a reboot themselves, taking place when Lara was much younger and just starting out on her tomb raiding career. The two rebooted games were fantastic and with Vikander starring in this new film, I hope the same can be said about the big screen version. Of course, this will be a video game adaptation and we all know how most of those turn out…
