Andrew Kevin Walker to Write GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Sequel

The Wrap has reported that Sony has brought on Se7en writer Andrew Kevin Walker to pen The Girl Who Played with Fire, the sequel to David Fincher‘s 2011 remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

While this is promising news for fans, it’s still not clear if Fincher will be returning to direct.  It was just announced that his 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea movie has been put on indefinite hold, and he would instead be making Gone Girl with (reportedly) Ben Affleck.

Walker also scripted the 20,000 Leagues film for Disney, which may never see the light of day due to the poor performance of John Carter and now The Lone Ranger.

It’s also worth noting that Sony originally brought on Steve Zaillian, who adapted the original, to write the script for the sequel, so it looks like they want to make some significant changes.

Furthermore, it’s still completely up in the air that Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara will be returning in the lead roles.  With Craig working on the next Bond film and Mara remaining busy as well.

Stay tuned and we’ll post more information as it becomes available.
