BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC Set For August 2020 Release

In a message to fans today, Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves announced that Bill & Ted Face the Music, the third installment of the cult favorite series is actually happening and will released next Summer, with a date of August 21st. In the film, a now middle-aged Bill and Ted are called upon from the future with word that only their music can save life on Earth as we know it.

The time-travelling buddy comedy, shooting in New Orleans, will be directed by Dean Parisot (“Galaxy Quest,” “Red 2,” “Fun With Dick and Jane”),  from a screenplay by returning franchise writers Chris Matheson (“Imagine That,” “A Goofy Movie”) and Ed Solomon (“Men in Black,” “Now You See Me,” “Mosaic”).

BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC will be produced by Scott Kroopf (“Limitless”) alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce on behalf of Hammerstone Studios.  Steven Soderbergh will be executive producing along with John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer and John Santilli. Production legal will be handled by Rosen Stapleton Law Group.

Following 1989’s “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and 1991’s “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves).  Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe.  Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

Reeves will continue to captivate audiences with his jaw dropping role in “John Wick: Chapter Three,” which will hit theaters on May 17^th. This is a follow up to the highly successful sequel “John Wick: Chapter Two” and “John Wick.”Reeves will next appear in the Netflix romantic comedy “Always Be My Maybe,” which stars Ali Wong and Randall Park. In June, he will lend his voice as a new character in Disney’s “Toy Story 4,” which will be Reeves first role in an animated film. His other notable credits include “The Matrix” trilogy, “Speed,” “Man of Tai Chi,” “Side By Side,” “Point Break,” “Constantine,” and “Devil’s Advocate.”

Winter and Reeves starred together in the first two “Bill and Ted” installments. Winter also starred in “The Lost Boys” and on Broadway in “The King & I” and “Peter Pan”. Winter is additionally a prolific writer and director with credits including the Epix documentaries “Deep Web” and “The Panama Papers” as well as the VH1 documentary “Downloaded” and two short documentary films for Laura Poitras’s Field of Vision; “Relatively Free” and “Trump’s Lobby”. Up next he has “Zappa,” the first all-access documentary on the life and times of Frank Zappa; and the documentary “Showbiz Kids” for HBO and Bill Simmons’ Ringer Films.

The previous “Bill & Ted” films were celebrated box office successes, becoming cultural touch points for a generation and garnering a rabid cult following in the process. The third installment marks the first time in 30 years that the duo will be seen in a new adventure.
