‘Byzantium’ Trailer Starring Saoirse Ronan

Here’s the new trailer for Byzantium, directed by Neil Jordan (Interview with a Vampire), and starring Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton. Ronan plays a vampire who is 200 years old, yet perpetually trapped in the body of a 16 year old.  Arterton plays her vampire mother and the two must travel the land keeping their identities secret in order to survive.

Though I’ve had about enough angsty vampire stories to last me a couple centuries, the visuals alone (by cinematographer Sean Bobbitt) make this one worth a look.  Byzantium hits theaters June 28th, hit the jump for the trailer and synopsis.

Two mysterious women seek refuge in a run-down coastal resort. Clara meets lonely Noel, who provides shelter in his deserted guesthouse, Byzantium. Schoolgirl Eleanor befriends Frank and tells him their lethal secret. They were born 200 years ago and survive on human blood. As knowledge of their secret spreads, their past catches up on them with deathly consequence.
