Dario Argento’s DRACULA 3D Trailer

In the age of angsty teen vampires that seem more focused on relationship drama than drinking blood, it’s nice to see a vampire film that harkens back to the gothic roots from Bram Stoker’s original novel.  Italian horror king Dario Argento is back with a new take on the Dracula story, combining the original style of classic vampire movies with modern 3D technology.

Unfortunately, judging from the trailer released today, it doesn’t look very promising.  The film stars Thomas Kretschmann, Asia Argento, Marta Castini, Rutger Hauer, Unax Ugalde, and Miriam Giovanelli, and is set for a VOD and theatrical release October 4th.  As a fan of Argento’s older films (Suspiria, Deep Red) I’ll give this one a go, but have low expectations. Hit the jump to check out the trailer and synopsis.

Horror master Dario Argento returns with a bloody, luridly creepy 3D version of the classic vampire tale, drenched in gore and sex. An unsuspecting Englishman arrives in Transylvania, lured by a job with a local nobleman. But the undead Count Dracula’s real target is the man’s innocent young wife. Featuring the iconic Rutger Hauer as vampire hunter Van Helsing and the inimitable Asia Argento (the director’s own daughter) as a local all-too-eager to fall under the Count’s sway.
