David Cronenberg’s SHIVERS Gets a Remake

The Wrap broke the news today that David Cronenberg‘s first feature film Shivers, also known as They Came From Within, is getting a remake due out sometime next year.  This announcement comes after the previously announced remake of Cronenberg’s Videodrome, so it looks like we’re in store for a lot of (hopefully) weird body horror in 2014.

Shivers revolves around a parasite let loose on an unsuspecting luxury condo building that turns its tenants into sex-crazed maniacs.  Rie Rasmussen (Human Zoo) is directing, and shooting is set to begin this February.

Although a big part of what makes Shivers one of my favorite Cronenberg films is the look and time period, it might be interesting to see a contemporary take on the story.  What do you think?
