Edgar Wright to Co-Write and Direct an Animated Feature for DreamWorks

In some interesting and potentially exciting news, it was revealed today that Edgar Wright will be co-writing and directing his first animated film over at DreamWorks.

According to The Wrap, Wright will be developing the film with author and comedian David Walliams (Little Britain) and the story will focus on the concept of shadows, although an exact plot has not been announced just yet.

DreamWorks Animation was previously working on a film called Me & My Shadow which featured Josh Gad voicing a guy whose boring life gets turned upside down when his shadow, voiced by Bill Hader, is forced to take over controlling his human host, however the story is going to be retooled and reworked so it may end up being completely different.

When commenting about the film Wright said:

My first endeavors in film-making as a teenager were in animation, so it was hugely intriguing to get a call from DreamWorks Animation about potentially directing. When the Shadows concept was suggested to me, I could see the poster, the title sequence and pretty much the whole movie. It’s a blast writing this and to have one of my oldest friends in comedy, David Walliams, along for the adventure is a thrill.

Wright’s next film will be a live-action crime comedy titled Baby Driver starring Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm and Kevin Spacey.
