Even though Edgar Wright hasn’t had a film out since Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, he has been very busy working on such projects as Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz follow-up The World’s End. It appears that he’s now working on another project with Johnny Depp, which is a remake of the 70’s horror TV series The Night Stalker.
Originally played by Darren McGavin (the dad from A Christmas Story), the story revolved around a crime reporter for a tabloid newspaper who uncovered a multitude of supernatural happenings from vampires, to zombies.
Being produced by Disney, the film is sure to be family friendly, and will most assuredly garner no more than a PG-13 rating. I don’t find this to be too much of an issue though, as I’m sure Wright will still make something that we all love. It’s also refreshing to see Johnny Depp making a movie that isn’t directed by Tim Burton or have pirates in it.
