Edgar Wright’s ‘The World’s End’ Trailer

With Seth Rogan‘s This is the End hitting theaters this summer, I hope that there’s still room for another apocalyptic comedy with Edgar Wright‘s The World’s End. This is the finale of the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, or the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy, with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz being the other two entries.  Where the previous two tackled horror and action respectively, The World’s End is going to take on the sci-fi genre.

In addition to the staples of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the film also stars Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman and Eddie Marsan.  Expect to witness The World’s End in theaters in the UK July 19th, with a US release date of August 23rd.  Hit the jump for the synopsis and trailer.

In “The World’s End,” 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
