‘Gambit’ Trailer Starring Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz

Before you question Marvel’s choice of casting with the beloved 90s mutant Gambit, please know this is actually a crime caper that has nothing to do with the X-Men character.  Now that all the fanboys have navigated away from this post, Gambit is a remake of a 1966 film, that stars Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman, and Stanley Tucci. While the trailer makes the film look like a typical crime comedy, the thing that interests me the most, is that the script was written by the Cohen Brothers.

The story centers on British art curator Harry Deane (Firth) who devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England’s richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting.  In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.

The film doesn’t have a definite US release date yet, but it’s planned to hit theaters early 2013. Here’s the trailer, provided by MSN.
