Gavin O’Connor’s JANE GOT A GUN Starring Natalie Portman Gets a First Trailer

Gavin O’Connor’s troubled Western, Jane Got a Gun, is finally ready to come out, and a new trailer for the film has been released today. The film stars Natalie Portman as a woman defending her home against a ruthless band of marauders after her husband gets shot by them in a duel. The film also stars Ewen McGregor as the leader of the villainous gang, Noah EmmerichJoel EdgertonBoyd Holbrook and Rodrigo Santoro.

There were a number of cast and crew changes that caused several setbacks when shooting this one, with the original director, Lynn Ramsey, dropping out causing the then cast Jude Law to also depart. Then Bradley Cooper was brought in to take over Law’s role as the villain, but he left too leaving the spot open for McGregor to come in. This doesn’t necessarily mean that’s a bad omen for the film, but this trailer certainly isn’t doing it any favors.

Jane Got a Gun opens in theaters February.

“Jane Got a Gun” centers on Jane Hammond (Natalie Portman), who has built a new life with her husband Bill “Ham” Hammond (Noah Emmerich) after being tormented by the ultra-violent Bishop Boys outlaw gang. She finds herself in the gang’s cross-hairs once again when Ham stumbles home riddled with bullets after dueling with the Boys and their relentless mastermind Colin (Ewan McGregor).

With the vengeful crew hot on Ham’s trail, Jane has nowhere to turn but to her former fiancé Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton) for help in defending her family against certain destruction. Haunted by old memories, Jane’s past meets the present in a heart-stopping battle for survival.
