Paramount has released a new international trailer for Ghost in the Shell, starring Scarlett Johansson. It’s heavy on action with brief contemplations about identity.
Johansson plays a human-cyborg hybrid who leads a special ops force, while also wondering where she came from. The action/philosophy looks like an amalgam of A.I., The Terminator, The Matrix, and The Bourne Identity.
Based on the poplar Japanese manga, Ghost in the Shell is directed by Rupert Sanders and also stars Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Kaori Momoi, and Takeshi Kitano. It will be released in theaters on March 31st, 2017.
Ghost in the Shell follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.
