Hany Abu-Assad to Direct SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE Remake

The Wrap announced today that director Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now) has been brought on to direct a remake of Chan-Wook Park‘s Sympathy for Mr Vengeance.  The original was the first in Park’s Vengeance trilogy, with Oldboy and Lady Vengeance proceeding it.

The film tells the story of a deaf man trying to save money to get an expensive surgery for his sick sister.  Unfortunately, things go very wrong and lead to a very violent conclusion.

There’s no word yet on when shooting will begin, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
