Harmony Korine Planning a Chopped and Screwed Cut of ‘Spring Breakers’

According to a recent article in the LA Times, director Harmony Korine is planning on creating a new cut of Spring Breakers that will be comprised of entirely new footage and essentially be a completely new movie.  He said, “I had this idea. With music remixes sometimes, when certain producers take a song and chop them up and deconstruct them – why not try that with a feature film? Using all different footage, making the same film all over again. Let’s just say for right now there’ll be a whole alternate film at some point. Maybe on the DVD, maybe on iTunes.”

Though he didn’t say when this version would be coming out, it should be noted that it definitely won’t be appearing on the Spring Breakers DVD and Blu Ray which is set to come out in a few weeks.

To me, this is exciting news as I loved Spring Breakers and I’m always interested to see what Korine has in store for us next.
