20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for the upcoming sci-fi sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence, starring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward. Taking place 20 years after the events of the first film, the aliens are back in a big way, with larger weapons ready to wipe humanity off the planet. Roland Emmerich returns to direct.
