Jack Nicholson and Kristen Wiig to Star in TONI ERDMANN Remake

After Toni Erdmann wound up on several top ten lists for 2016 and received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, speculation began on an American remake, mostly regarding who would play the two main characters. We don’t have to speculate any longer. According to Variety, Jack Nicholson and Kristen Wiig will co-star in the dramedy. Nicholson hasn’t appeared in a film since 2010 and will take on the role of workaholic Wiig’s practical joking father.

Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Wiig will produce. Maren Ade, who wrote and directed the original, will executive produce. There’s no word yet on a director, writer, or start date.
