Joe Carnahan’s Daredevil Will Not Be Happening

It’s been rumored for some time that director Joe Carnahan (The Grey), was trying to pitch a new Daredevil film to Fox.  The film would be a darker, grittier, version of the story, and would be based off Frank Miller‘s ‘Born Again’ storyline.  The flick would also take place in the 70’s, which makes it sound even better.Unfortunately, Fox couldn’t get the film going fast enough, and the licensing rights to the property ran out, and reverted back to Marvel Studios. This doesn’t necessarily mean Carnahan’s vision of Daredevil still isn’t a possibility, but making it a violent “Serpico Style” crime story will probably not sit well with the Disney owned studio.

Carnahan broke the news himself on Twitter, and he also released two sizzle reels that were made up for the pitch.  It’s a shame that this didn’t work out, because he seems to be heading in the right direction tonally. Check out the violent and not violent videos below.
