‘Killing Them Softly’ Trailer

Here’s the debut trailer for the upcoming Andrew Dominik film Killing Them Softly starring Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini and Richard Jenkins. Dominik directed Pitt in his previous film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and while the title of his latest film may be shorter, it looks like it’s going to move at a much more frantic pace than his last project.

Based on a novel by George V. Higgins, the film centers around a hitman hired to dispatch two idiots who rob a high-stakes poker game, but apparently things become more complicated, and the message of the film evolves into something much broader.

Judging only from the trailer, It looks like this will be a nice blend of action, comedy, and violence, and looks like it may be borrowing some style from the Cohen brothers as well. Dominik successfully brought a unique and well-crafted take on the Western with his previous effort, so I’m very curious to see what he’ll do with a crime thriller.

Killing Them Softly hits theaters October 19th.
