MINECRAFT Movie Gets a Director

Deadline broke the news today that Warner Bros. is circling director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) for the Minecraft film. The blocky sandbox style video game has been wildly popular over the last few years, and the games creators, Mojang AB, recently made news by being bought by Microsoft for an astounding $2.5 billion.

As for the movie adaptation, little is known about it, however on the surface it just seems like something that wouldn’t translate well to the big screen, not unlike a Tetris film. Then again, I never thought a Lego movie would work either and look how that turned out.
