A teaser has been released for Netflix’s The Discovery, and though there’s only one line of dialogue spoken the tone is well-established. With Roy Orbison’s “Only the Lonely” playing throughout, there’s a mix of sincerity and creepiness that’s in line with director Charlie McDowell’s previous sci-fi romance, The One I Love.
Starring Jason Segel, Rooney Mara, and Robert Redford, the film explores a future world where the afterlife has been scientifically proven, leading to a rash of suicides.
The Discovery will premiere at Sundance before arriving on Netflix on March 31st, 2017.
One year after the existence of the afterlife is scientifically verified, millions around the world have ended their own lives in order to “get there”. A man and woman fall in love while coming to terms with their own tragic pasts and the true nature of the afterlife. Coming to Netflix March 31.
