Netflix has released a strange piece of viral marketing for Okja. The clip features Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton), CEO of Mirando Corporation, talking a lot of corporate speak. Then she starts talking about pig night terrors and how they “deserve happy dreams just like the rest of us.”
Considering the plot of the film revolves around a young girl protecting a creature from the corporation’s clutches, Ms. Mirando may not be as well-intentioned as she pretends to be.
Okja is directed by Bong Joon Ho and also stars An Seo Hyun, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Giancarlo Esposito, Steven Yeun, and Lily Collins. It will play at the Cannes Film Festival before hitting Netflix on June 28th.
Okja follows Mija, a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named ‘Okja’.
