Rodney Ascher’s THE NIGHTMARE Acquired by Gravitas

One Sundance film I was really bummed to miss was Rodney Ascher‘s (Room 237) latest, The Nightmare. This horror documentary takes a look at people that suffer from sleep paralysis, an affliction in which people who are sleeping “regain consciousness but are unable to move or cry out for help.  Frequently they hear menacing noises and voices and even see intruders (human or otherwise) in the room with them.”

Today, Gravitas Ventures announced they have acquired the film for North American release and will be putting it out in theaters and on VOD June 5th.

If you’re heading to Austin this week for SXSW, you can see it screening there.
