Although Quentin Dupieux is a relative new kid on the block as far as directing goes, his unusual subject matter and interesting visual style make him a very promising up and comer. He now has three films complete and set to come out in 2013, Wrong, Realite, and Wrong Cops.
Wrong had a nice festival run this year, and was picked up by Drafthouse Films, with a release date set for sometime early in 2013. Realite was just announced as being wrapped, and will also have a release of sometime next year. Hit the jump for more info. Here’s the synopsis for Realite:
A little 8-year-old girl (called Reality) finds a mysterious video cassette. Her desire to see it rapidly tuns into an obsession. As for Jason (Alain Chabat), a failed filmmaker, he manages to persuade Bob (Jonathan Lambert), a crooked producer, to finance his first horror film. Despite the advice of his wife Alice (Elodie Bouchez), a psychiatrist, Jason progressively loses the plot and starts to confuse dreams with reality. Finally, Denis, an out-of-date television presenter, suddenly loses his confidence because of an imaginary skin disease. He then develops a feeling of being persecuted and loses his points of reference.
The film also features Jon Heder in a rat suit, which can be seen below.
