Ruben Fleischer Set to Direct Chris Evans in JEKYLL

Last summer it was announced that Chris Evans was headlining a new take on Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Titled simply Jekyll, the project now has a director.

Per Deadline, Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) is Lionsgate’s choice to helm the retelling. The film will be based on Steven Moffat’s BBC One miniseries from 2007, in which a descendant of Jekyll discovers he has the same light and dark sides as the good/bad doctor.

In the spirit of duality, Universal is also developing a Dr. Jekyll project around Russell Crowe, who will appear as the character in 2017’s reboot of The Mummy. Neither film has a release date as of yet.
