‘Rust and Bone’ Trailer

Jacques Audiard’s newest film, since his critically acclaimed A Prophet won the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes in 2009, Rust and Bone recently played Cannes and the early reviews are immensely positive. Rust and Bone appears to be a must-see and looks to be an early favorite for the Palme d’Or. The film stars Marion Cotillard and Matthais Schoenaerts and the distribution rights were recently picked up by Sony Pictures Classics.

The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw writes “Jacques Audiard’s moving love story, which surges out of the screen like a flood tide, deserves to be awash with awards.” Xan Brooks, also of the Guardian, wrote “Audiard’s Palme d’Or contender is tough and sinuous, robustly acted by Cotillard and Schoenaerts and rustling up a compelling picture of the France beyond the Palais…”, while Raj Ranade, for NPR, hopes “that the competition as a whole lives up to the standard set by Jacques Audiard’s Rust and Bone, the first great film I’ve seen here.”
