Sight & Sound Reveals Their Top 20 Films of 2016

The best-of-2016 lists are being released at a decent clip, and Sight & Sound has joined the discussion with the results of their annual poll. The BFI international film magazine polled over 150 critics, who each nominated their top five films of the past year. Those selections were used to create a collective top 20.

Topping the list of diverse choices is Maren Ade’s German-Austrian comedy Toni Erdmann. The rest of the selections are below.

  11. Personal Shopper – Olivier Assayas
  12. Sieranevada – Cristi Puiu
  13. Fire at Sea (Fuocoamare) – Gianfranco Rosi
  14. Nocturama – Bertrand Bonello
  15. Julieta – Pedro Almodóvar
  16. La La Land – Damien Chazelle
