So There’s A PEZ Movie in the Works

In the latest bit of ridiculous film adaptation news, Envision Media Arts has announced they will be working with PEZ Candy Inc. on a film based on the popular chalk-like sugary treats. The film will be an animated feature written by Cameron Fay with Lee Nelson and David Buelow producing for EMA. Out of all the weird movie adaptations coming out lately, this is one I just can’t see working.

Here’s the full press release regarding the announcement:

NEW YORK, NY –August 3, 2015 – Envision Media Arts (EMA) has entered an exclusive agreement with PEZ Candy, Inc. to develop a film based on the iconic candy dispensers. Cameron Fay (“The Three Stooges Movie (2017)”, “Brother In Law (2015)”) has been brought on to write the animated feature. Lee Nelson and David Buelow will produce for EMA. Gregg Rossen, Brian Sawyer and Jonathan Hung brought the project to EMA and will Executive Produce along with EMA’s David Tish.

Created 88 years ago, PEZ Candy dispensers are available worldwide in more than 80 countries; over 3 billion PEZ candies are consumed annually in the U.S. alone.

“PEZ Candy is beloved by children and adults alike, with Cameron Fay we’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many.” Stated EMA CEO and Founder.

PEZ Candy, Inc. is the pioneer of “interactive candy” that is both enjoyable to eat and fun to play with. PEZ Dispensers are a hot collectable for adults and children alike and have been a staple of American pop culture for over 50 years.
