Sofia Coppola’s THE BEGUILED Gets a Trailer

Focus Features has released a trailer for Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled, an adaptation of Thomas Cullinan’s novel. There had already been a previous film version in 1971 starring Clint Eastwood and directed by Don Siegel, and while that’s a fine film, the update offers a different point of view that looks very interesting.

Starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, Elle Fanning, Kirsten Dunst, and Angourie Rice, The Beguiled will be released on June 23rd.

The Beguiled, adapted by Sofia Coppola from Thomas Cullinan’s novel of the same name, unfolds in a girls’ school in the state of Virginia in 1864. As the Civil War rages, The Miss Martha Farnsworth Seminary for Young Ladies has been sheltered from the outside world— until the day a wounded Union soldier is discovered nearby and taken in.
